Blogs I have been reading
I don’t have time to read everything out there and I admit I do a bit of scanning, but here are some blogs that have been of particular interest to me of late. I recommend that you check it out the following blogs and they may even be worth adding to your blog reader.
- Influencer blog: David Maxfield, one of the authors of Influencer: The Power to Change Anything writes about the subject on influence and follows up on the book with answers to readers questions.
- Church of the Customer: Ben McConnell and Jackie Huba experts in brand building and evangelism. I really recommend the post about a social media firehose.
- Work matters: Robert Sutton is Professor of Management Science and Engineering in the Stanford Engineering School, Sutton studies the links between managerial knowledge and organizational action and his blog is an outgrowth of that.
- Presentation Zen: This is a great blog. As a Microsoftie if I see one more blog that should have been a handout I am going to scream. It is time to learn a better way; and Garr Reynolds is the man to do it. Great presentation ideas for those of us that abuse the medium.
Good reading and good luck.
Poetic prophet.
Chuck. Chuck. Chuck. I am researching today and I found this on another blog.
You keep making SEO seem hip. Nice page rank.
I Live in Louisville

So I don’t really live in Louisville… any more that is; but I did and I liked it there. I enjoyed great restaurants and the culture that could be found especially in the Highlands. Louisville as a city has a lot to offer more than most mid-west/ohio valley cities do. The derby, forecastle, and the highlands.
If not for a lack of opportunity in the tech world, Notable exceptions do occur, I would probably still be living there. I really liked it there and always enjoy my return visits. I was not native so I don’t have a overly unusual sense of attachment.
I wanted to share this though. Michael from Metromapper posted a link in twitter this morning to a site by Leslie Lyons that includes great photos of places and people who work and make a difference in Louisville. There are a lot of familiar places in the photos with stories about the place or the person.
I like this site for what it is not (Propaganda) , and for what it is; a look at people. Good job Leslie, you made me check my calendar for my next visit. See you soon Louisville.

UPDATE: Thanks to all the visitors who have been checking out my blog from Louisville. This humble Microsoft employee thinks it is very cool to here so many good things are going on.
Web Worker Daily: Are You Ready to Stand While You Work?
Web Worker Daily had an interesting article today on the idea of standing while you work. This is something that I really love. I have been standing for about three years now while I work.
There are a few big benefits to this in my mind.
- Standing puts me in a better ergonomic position
- Standing helps to focus on a task
- Access to my white board is as simple as turning around
Apparently more people are doing this and I encourage you to give it a try. You get the opportunity to strengthen your legs and get better access to your workspace.
My question for you is what kind of workspace do you have?
Oh and go read the article.
