What’s in my Go Bag?

by Jeremiah Andrick on July 12, 2009

So after I posted my travel post I got asked by a few people on twitter to share what I keep in my laptop bag or my go bag. I decided this afternoon as I was packing up for a trip tomorrow what I have in my Timbuk2 Commuter 2.0 bag.  My bag is the large size bag and is almost never filed to capacity. Here is the contents of my bag as I emptied it.

bag contents

Lets break it down by item.  My Laptop is my favorite computer I have ever owned; a Lenovo x300 running set up to dual boot Windows 7 RTM and Ubuntu. I always have at least one notebook, if you have read my previous posts you know that most of my notebooks are from the hard to find Postalco. With my notebook I usually have one magazine or book to read.

Further down in my bag I have a bunch of essentials that are always in my bag no matter where I am going or how long I am there. I zoomed in on my picture so that you can see what I include.

  • Behance Action Cards & Stickers: the best capture tools ever.
  • Cables
  • Two backup hard drives
  • Portable laptop mouse
  • AT&T Mercury 3G Aircard
  • Belkin Portable surge protector
  • Empty black Leica bag (I put the cables, mouse, & hard drives in this)
  • Business cards

I always carry a few personal items; some Versace Cologne, Advil, eye drops, Colgate Wisps, and Tide to-go. I also have at least one or two Uni-Ball fine point black pens. These pens write really well in Postalco notebooks. So the only tip I can offer is to carry a roll of quarters and one hundred in cash. I can’t tell you how many times these two things have save my life. From quick trips to a Laundromat to getting in a cab that doesn’t take a card.  Keeping a little emergency cash is important.

So there you go, my boring little bag.
